Intern Psychotherapist and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Mehvish is accepting new clients in September 2026!
Hello, my name is Mehvish, and I appreciate you taking the time to get to know me a bit better.
I believe that meaningful growth can emerge when individuals feel safe, heard, and connected to every dimension of themselves. Currently, I am a student therapist pursuing a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Toronto. Additionally, I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto. My background comprises of extensive experience in crisis intervention, as well as experience supporting in private practice settings, and student advocacy work.
My approach to therapy involves honouring the different layers of ourselves while using emotions as entry points for exploration. Taking a trauma-informed and client-centred lens, I strive to tailor my practice to fit the unique needs of all clients. Along with that, I draw on therapeutic modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy in my approach.
As a South-Asian Canadian woman, I understand the frustration of not being seen or accepted for the totality of yourself. I recognize how instrumental it can be to explore the intersectional and often conflicting realities of our lives. I welcome individuals and couples from all walks of life while incorporating an LGBTQIA2S+ affirmative, anti-oppressive, and culturally-sensitive framework to my practice. I hope to offer you a brave space where you can start to unpack the intricacies of your life, challenge limiting internal beliefs, and craft new stories that create meaning and highlight personal strengths.
I am especially drawn to working with adolescents, adults, and couples with concerns related to emotional regulation, life transitions, self-esteem, identity concerns, depression, and anxiety. If you feel connected to my approach, I would be honoured to join you on your mental health journey.
