Jodie is accepting new clients in May 2026!
Hello, my name is Jodie. Thank you for taking the time to read more about me.!
I am a compassionate therapist-in-training currently completing a Master of Counselling Psychology, and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. My academic background has shaped my understanding of identity, culture, and the social contexts that influence mental health and well-being, but my work is equally informed by lived experience.
As an immigrant with layered cultural and ethnic identities, I understand firsthand how complex it can be to navigate belonging, transition, and self-understanding across different cultural spaces. These experiences allow me to meet clients with deep empathy and understanding, particularly those who feel caught between worlds, carrying multiple identities, or questioning where and how they belong. I genuinely value the opportunity to walk alongside individuals as they make sense of their stories, challenges, and strengths.
My approach to counselling is person-centered, strengths-based, and culturally responsive. I am deeply committed to creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and affirmed and where your experiences and your voice matters. I work collaboratively with clients, supporting you in exploring emotions, building self-awareness, and reconnecting with parts of yourself and with others that may feel distant or unheard. I am especially drawn to Narrative Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy, which focus on meaning-making, emotional processing, and honoring personal strengths.
My professional background includes experience in higher education, patient care, and peer mental health support. I have helped individuals navigating stress, burnout, identity exploration, and significant life transitions. I am especially passionate about working with emerging adults and with individuals navigating concerns related to culture, identity, difficult emotions, and periods of change. If you are looking for a therapist who is curious, compassionate, and genuinely invested in working alongside you, I would be honored to support you in your journey.
