About Rachael
Hi there, my name is Rachael Fernandes. Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about me.
Rachael is a graduate student at Yorkville University, completing her clinical practicum with us at One Peace Therapy. Rachael holds a BSc Hons from the University of Toronto Mississauga in Psychology, Professional Writing, and Biology. She is currently in her final year of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University and has completed her coursework for her degree.
Volunteering and mentoring in crisis and suicide prevention support services, Rachael gained experience supporting individuals in distress with various concerns and demographics. Her reflective and person-specific approach pulls from solution-focused, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), multicultural, trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and narrative lenses.
Primarily, Rachael aims to provide a safe, thoughtful, and kind environment working with clients to find self-compassion and self-defined narratives.
Rachael believes mental health encompasses journeying and reflecting on spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional elements. Rachael’s experience provides tools for self-awareness, coping, self-empathy, and resilience.
